MARTHA MOXLEY, 15 - beaten to death with a six-iron golf club
MICHAEL SKAKEL, 39 - arrested and indicted
Greenwich, Connecticut
The Boy Next Door--(People Magazine) Dorothy Moxley had nothing special planned for Jan. 18 -- tennis with friends in the morning, bridge in the afternoon -- until a 9:30 a.m. phone call brought news she had waited more than 24 years to hear: Frank Garr, an inspector with the Connecticut state's attorney's office, told her there would be a major announcement concerning the long-unresolved investigation of the death of Moxley's 15-year-old daughter, Martha, whose savage 1975 murder outside the family's Greenwich, Conn., home has been generating headlines ever since.
Key meeting led to turnaround in Moxley investigation--(Boston Globe) The investigators held a thick black book they said pointed to another man as the killer Kenneth Littleton, the tutor who had moved into the Skakel home the night more than 20 years ago when Martha was bludgeoned to death with a golf club. That meeting, described in a copyright story in The Advocate, altered the investigation and ultimately helped lead to an arrest not of Littleton or Thomas Skakel, but of Thomas' younger brother, Michael.
Is time up for prosecuting Moxley murder?--(Greenwich Time) An expired statute of limitations may mean Michael Skakel cannot be prosecuted in the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley, the Connecticut Law Tribune has reported.
