An Arkansas State Police helicopter circled areas of Crawford County Monday in search of a Fort Smith woman who was taken from her home at gunpoint early Sunday. Sgt. Jeff Barrows of the Fort Smith Police Department said Karen Ibison, 38, of Fort Smith, also known as Karen Sharp, called a friend around 10 a.m. Monday. The call, though brief, proved to police that Ibison was alive, Barrows said.

A 4-year-old boy died Monday hours after he was struck in the right temple with a buckshot pellet during a shooting involving his father and another man. The boy, Daylon Jacobs, was the son of Roy Jacobs and Crystal Bryant of Palmer Drive near Maxton. He died about 2:45 p.m. in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
