    Three charged with theft of credit cards, $3,500 -- (Bergen Record) A man and woman who allegedly stole purses from the Wayne YM-YWHA had no fear of getting caught when they handed the credit card and driver's licenses to a bank teller in Pompton Lakes, police said. That's because the teller was the man's girlfriend, and authorities say she was in on the scam that netted $3,500 in cash advances.

    Suspect's girlfriend testifies in Girl X trial -- (Chicago Sun Times) The former girlfriend of the man charged with attacking Girl X recalled seeing him walking back into their Cabrini-Green building about an hour before the 9-year-old was raped and left for dead. Tina Stokes' testimony was important to the prosecution because it puts Patrick Sykes, the man charged in the crime, at the building close to the time of the attack.

    Woman's body found on West Side -- (Chicago Sun Times) A woman's body was found today in a West Side vacant lot, only three blocks away from where another woman's body was found less than 24 hours earlier. The Cook County medical examiner's office is scheduled to do autopsies on both bodies later today. Young said police do not know if the two deaths are connected, but she said it was unusual to find two bodies so close together.
