    Teenager abducted on 'busy' bridge --(BBC)A 16-year-old girl on her lunch break from a work experience job in London was abducted by two men in a car. The teenager was walking along Blackfriars Bridge at about 1400 BST on Friday when a car pulled up alongside her and the driver grabbed her. He threatened to stab the girl if she did not get in and then forced her into the vehicle. The girl was later forced out of the car, leaving her in a "confused and distressed state".

    LAWYERS AND JUDGE MEETS FOR HEARING ON PENALTY PHASE EVIDENCE --(KFMB)The judge in the David Westerfield trial said Friday that he will consider a defense request to bar prosecutors from calling penalty phase witnesses to testify about the convicted child killer's past criminal acts. Under the law, the prosecution can call such witnesses to try to convince a jury that Westerfield, 50, should get the death penalty for kidnapping and killing 7-year-old Danielle van Dam.

    Judge Mudd Boots Photographers From Courtroom --(TheSanDiegoChannel.com)The judge in the trial of the man convicted of killing 7-year-old Danielle van Dam said Friday he would ban still photographs from the remainder of the proceedings because a photographer violated courtroom rules by taking a picture of the girl's grieving parents. Superior Court Judge William Mudd made no mention of the live video and audio feed that broadcasters have used to provide gavel-to-gavel coverage of the trial of David Westerfield. The video feed did not show Danielle's parents, Brenda and Damon van Dam.

Police found an operational meth lab at the remote farm northeast of Salem. They were interviewing two adults and expected to arrest them, said Lt. Dave Okada of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The children range in age from about 8 months to 8 years, Okada said. They did not appear to have been hurt or mistreated, he said. The two horses were “badly neglected and emaciated,” he said.

Danielle van Dam's disappearance in February sparked one of the largest manhunts and one of the most sensational criminal cases in the history of the city. On Wednesday, a crowd outside the courthouse cheered when a jury convicted David Westerfield of kidnapping and murdering his 7-year-old neighbor. But the case of another San Diego child, 2-year-old Jahi Turner, has largely faded from public attention since his disappearance was reported on April 25. After an exhaustive search, police say they have run out of leads and have no suspects. "We haven't forgotten him," San Diego police spokesman David Cohen said Thursday. "There's just nothing new to go on."
