    Young girl died of gunshot wound -- (News-Record) Many fragments, including a section of rib cage, were discovered under a wooden bridge on Grogan Road that crosses Jacobs Creek, a shallow muddy stream.
    Advanced decomposition more likely in summer -- (Martinsville Bulletin) The advanced decomposition of remains found in Rockingham County, N.C., last week initially caused officials to speculate that they could not belong to Jennifer Short, who had been missing for only six weeks. However, Dr. William Bass III, who is retired from the University of Tennessee's Forensic Anthropology Facility, also known as "The Body Farm," said such advanced decomposition is not only possible but likely.
    N.C. victim had been shot -- (Martinsville Bulletin) The remains found in Rockingham County, N.C., last Wednesday are those of a child who had been shot once in the head, according to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's office.
